So you’re ready to propose, but how should you do it? This is one of the most exciting events in your life. Luckily, Charm City has no shortage of romantic places to pop the question. In fact, the choices are almost endless. That’s why we’ve narrowed it down to the 15 best places to propose in Baltimore.

1. One of Baltimore’s Beautiful Parks

Our city has an abundance of famous parks with stunning views, as well as hidden gems that make for a sweet and intimate proposal. Here are some ideas:

  • Patterson Park — A true Charm City native will appreciate a proposal in this beacon of Baltimore culture that spans roughly 300 years of the city’s history. Consider proposing near the lake in the middle of the park, or near the Pagoda where you’ll have a breathtaking view of the city.
  • Federal Hill Park — If an iconic Baltimore view sounds like the perfect backdrop for your proposal, you can’t do much better than Federal Hill park. Take a stroll up the hill before you get on one knee, or head to one of the park’s historic statues or monuments.

2. Top of the World Observation Level

The 27th floor of the Baltimore World Trade Center offers an incredible 360-degree view of the city. This is a great spot to propose — as long as neither of you is afraid of heights! The only downside is that you have to go through security, so make sure you have the ring hidden well.

3. Your Favorite Baltimore Restaurant

Proposing over dinner (or right after dinner) is an old tradition for good reason. Delicious food, candlelight, champagne… What could be more romantic?

Whether you choose an elegant Baltimore hotspot or the cozy restaurant from your first date, proposing at dinner is a great idea. Consider one of these local spots:

  • Sotto Sopra — Contemporary Italian food in downtown Baltimore
  • Gertrude’s — A great choice for art lovers, since it’s located inside the Baltimore Museum of Arts, where you can spend the day before dinner
  • Charleston — A swanky Harbor East restaurant with a romantic atmosphere
  • Wine Market Bistro – A unique South Baltimore bistro and wine bar complete with warm lighting, exposed brick, and steel accents

4. Cylburn Arboretum

Full of gardens, greenhouses, wooded paths, and angelic statues, the arboretum is the perfect place for a quiet proposal where the two of you will have each other’s undivided attention. The Cylburn Arboretum also regularly hosts wedding ceremonies, so you know the location is ripe for romance.

5. Camden Yards

If both of you are big Orioles fans, a proposal at Camden Yards could just be the perfect way to begin the next phase of your relationship with a moment you’ll never forget. Unlike some stadiums, Camden Yards doesn’t offer proposal packages, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make your own plan.

6. American Visionary Art Museum

Arguably the crown jewel of Baltimore’s art scene, the American Visionary Art Museum (a.k.a. AVAM) is a wonderfully romantic place for an art lover. The winged “Black Icarus” statue at the center of the main stair is an especially great place to propose.

7. The Washington Monument in Mount Vernon

Not only is the monument itself awe inspiring, but you’re also surrounded by greenery and beautiful buildings. Why not make a day of it and explore a few of Mount Vernon’s other attractions? The Walters Art Museum, Maryland Historical Society, and George Peabody Library are all within walking distance. Speaking of which, the library is another great place to propose…

8. The Stack Room at the George Peabody Library

9. Find Your Own Spot on the Water

There are countless places to propose near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor — that’s how big and diverse our city is! Broadway Pier in Fells Point is a romantic destination. You could also plan ahead and arrange your own private water taxi ride.

There are also numerous restaurants with gorgeous waterside views.

10. Rawlings Conservatory

Looking for a unique proposal location? The Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens has been in Druid Hill Park since 1888, so it’s an important part of Baltimore’s history. Who wouldn’t love to receive a marriage proposal surrounded by flowers and plants from around the world?

11. 13th Floor

13th Floor is an elegant setting for a marriage proposal. The bar sits atop the historic Belvedere Hotel so you’ll have incredible views of the Mid-Town Belvedere and Mount Vernon areas. Its sophisticated, retro vibe will create the perfect atmosphere for your big moment.

12. Boordy Vineyards

Boordy Vineyards isn’t technically in Baltimore, but it’s only about 15 minutes north from the Baltimore beltway. With 230 acres of farmland, grounds, and 19th century buildings, you’ll have no trouble finding a secluded, romantic place to get down on one knee.

13. Historic Ships

Any history buff would be thrilled at the idea of a proposal on the deck of one of the historic ships in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The USS Constellation and USCGC Taney are both especially picturesque. If you want a more intimate setting, you can even rent space so you can ensure that it will be just the two of you.

14. The Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse

Less than a mile away from the ships you’ll find another classic proposal destination: the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse (part of the Baltimore Maritime Museum). The lighthouse overlooks both the harbor and the bay, so don’t forget to take some photos. The view is one of a kind!

15. The Place You Met

All the places on this list are great places to propose, but maybe you’re looking for something a little more personal — something that has sentimental value. Think back to your first date, the day you first met, or another important milestone in your relationship. Maybe your first date was dinner at your place, in which case you might cook a surprise meal and decorate the entryway with rose petals.

Beginning the Next Stage of Your Lives Together

Your proposal is the beginning of an exciting next step in your relationship. When it comes to planning the perfect moment, no one knows what will melt your loved one’s heart better than you do. Your proposal is as unique as your relationship, so don’t be afraid to get creative!
