On Friday, October 25, 2013, Michael made a stop into our store to pick up his future wife’s engagement ring. It was my fifth day with Samuelson’s Diamonds and I had stopped into our downtown retail location to observe the store. I remember seeing Michael pick up the ring and then tweeted about how sweet it was knowing that he would be proposing soon.
On November 2, 2013, Michael popped the question to his girlfriend, Jessie. He told Jessie they were “going to dinner” around 5 PM on a Saturday night. They headed over to a place in Fed Hill and walked on the Harbor Walk promenade along the water. As they approached the Ritz Carlton and Harbor View homes, he stopped her at a final turning point, said a little speech, told her they were not going to dinner and proposed.
After celebrating her agreement to his proposal, he revealed to Jess that a mutual friend videotaped the entire event and he came and took a few pictures. After this Michael and Jessie headed back to his apartment for a final surprise. Both of the couple’s families and friends were waiting for them at Michael’s apartment, and everyone celebrated the happiest day of the couple’s lives to date.
Everyone at Samuelson’s has to agree that Michael did an excellent job on both the ring and the proposal. He chose a 14kt white gold diamond halo engagement ring with a princess cut diamond and couldn’t have picked a more perfect backdrop, the Inner Harbor. The extra touch of having someone videotape and take photos of the proposal is such a fantastic idea. This way the moment he popped the question was still intimate and only between the two of them, but they will always have the video and pictures to re-live that special moment.
The couple will be busy with wedding planning over the next year – they are getting married November 8, 2014 in Seabrook, SC. Congratulations Michael and Jessica from all of us at Samuelson’s Diamonds!

On the evening of October 14th Journey Guitarist, Neal Schon proposed to girlfriend of 16years, Michaele Salahi. This was not just like any ordinary proposal; Neal popped the question in front of hundreds of fans at the benefit concert for the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. The timing of the announcement was perfect. Just before the performance of the song “faithfully,” Neal knelt on stage in front of Michaele. Of course, she said yes! The newly engaged couple is happy that both of their families were present to witness the special moment. As you can see, the 11.42ct oval diamond engagement ring he presented was absolutely stunning!
Angelina Jolie’s 16 Carat Engagement Ring
Year 2012 has engagement written all over it.
Numerous celebrities have recently announced their engagements by revealing their stunning new diamond engagement rings. Brad Pitt’s proposal to Angelina Jolie in April sparked public interest in her beautiful ring. Angelina’s $500,000 emerald cut ring set in platinum is astonishing. Miley Cyrus is another celeb whose smile appears infinite as she wears her 18k gold, 3.5 carat cushion cut diamond engagement ring presented to her by Liam Hemsworth in June. Early in 2012, Oliver Martinez proposed to Halle Berry. Halle was first seen in January wearing her emerald and diamond engagement ring with a yellow gold setting. The list of newly engaged celebrities is ongoing but the difference between each engagement is certain. An existing trend of diamond engagement rings within the celebrity world does not appear to exist. Each diamond engagement ring is unique and special in different ways.

A great guy named Joe bought a ring from us and proposed at the Orioles game Monday night.
He bought a beautiful round brilliant cut diamond in a four prong setting. Congrats to our new customer Joe and we wish him many years of health and happiness!
We love hearing engagement stories and proposals. This was very cool as it was an anniversary present and, well, the note and pictures speak for themselves.
The Happy Couple
I hope you are doing well! I wanted to update you after this weekend. The wife and I went down to Miami and hopped on a three day cruise with her family. This was on Friday…the Saturday night, at an elegant dinner in front of all of her family on the cruise ship I told everyone that I wanted to take this opportunity to do something official that I hadn’t had the chance to do. I got on one knee and blew everyone away man. It was awesome!! The ring couldn’t have looked more classy! It was amazing!!
We are happy to be a part of such a special moment and wish Mitch and Glenda the all the best. And for those of interested in looking at the ring, here it is – a beautiful cushion cut!

We love selling engagement rings and hearing about the unique ways our customers propose. What makes this one even more special is that these customers are personal friends of mine. After Jon made the move I got this text:
The deed was done on a one horse open sleigh ride in Stowe, Vermont. It was snowing and beautiful. Thanks so much. She LOVES the ring.
And then Megan sent over these great pictures with a note:
Ron – I just wanted to say thank you for helping Jon put together such a beautiful engagement ring for me! He proposed to me yesterday on a horse-drawn snowy sleigh ride through the Vermont forest.
This is why I love my job. Congrats to my good friends Jon and Megan! Wishing you many years of health and happiness!
We love to hear engagement stories and proposal ideas. It’s what makes our job so gratifying. Sometimes, we sell a ring and never hear about it again. Other times, we hear how much our customers love their diamond.
And every once in awhile, we get a story like this:
I proposed to my girlfriend on Sunday the 8th, and she said yes without hesitation! We went out on a mountain bike ride at Patapsco Valley State Park, down near Elkridge. Took her up to the scenic outlook at Buzzards Rock, and asked her there. And of course, she loves the ring.
Dan included some pictures he’d taken of the event on flickr. We asked him if we could use them and he said:
You can use them on your Facebook or blog posts, just don’t edit them in any way other than resizing. Oh, and her name is Christy, just FYI. Thanks.
So without further ado we present the photos, unedited as Dan asked.
Let’s give them a hand!
Congratulations to Dan and Christy! We wish the best for them and their future marriage! Please comment and share your proposal story. Click here to see some more on our facebook diamonds fan page!
